23 dreamers walked into a classroom at the very top of the Pepperdine campus last July carrying their hopes and fears with them. These educators, corporate planners and tech stewards were taking a chance on a different type of learning experience that was more about the process than the product and more about the context for learning than the testing of memorized facts. Over the course of the year, 4 dropped out for different reasons and the 19 that remained hung in there for the adventure of their lives. Dreams of encouraging 21st century learning became more than just possibilities. We came to believe that changing the educational environment was possible as we experienced successes mixed in with the challenges. We started out with wide eyed dreams and became believers in our abilities to be transforming agents in each of our own digital habitats and communities of practice. After all … a believer is just a dreamer who's dreams have come true.
Believers
Woke up this morning from a dream
When nobody was around
Grabbed my coffee, grabbed my Piaget
And headed into town
It's just a theory
But I've got to know
If we can really change the world
Take what we learning and
Pass it on to
21st century boys n girls
We're pressing our noses
Up against the window of the future
They may say we're just dreamers
Got our heads in the cloud
But I say we're believers
Encouraging the dreamers
In the classrooms right now
Been to Orlando, been to Malibu
Made some life long friends along the way
Reflected on the process and Tetrandia
Action Research vu ja de
It's just a simple twist of fate
Speaking metaphorically
That brought us together to change the world
But what changed along the way was you and me
We're pressing our noses
Up against the window of the future
They may say we're just dreamers
Got our heads in the cloud
But I say we're believers
Encouraging the dreamers
In the classrooms right now
